What’s NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device and How to Update/Uninstall It


NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) is a component that is digitally signed by NVIDIA and it is a verified product of this company. Usually, it won’t be disguised as a legitimate module in any malware by hackers to damage your computer.

NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device will be used if you want to connect your computer with NVIDIA SHIELD module or to another output component with speakers. That is, the driver is necessary for the system to establish a connection with the audio device connected via the HDMI port (connected to the graphics card).

If your computer hasn’t installed the virtual audio component, there will be no audio in the output of the HDMI.
